There has been a lot of excitement and energy around the gym of late. Maybe it is excitement around the upcoming Catacombs Games or our ever expanding youth programs. Maybe it is the new athletes moving into group classes from Foundations or seasoned veterans hitting new PRs or mastering skills like muscle ups or double unders. I can't quite put my finger on it but I absolutely LOVE walking into the gym every morning. It has also been awesome getting to know our new athletes from the January Foundations session. You guys bring a freshness and enthusiasm that is contagious.
But what if you aren't one of the new athletes making progress by the minute or one of the veterans hitting PRs? What if you are coming to the gym day in and day out, putting in the work, eating well, but aren't magically transforming into a super hero? I've got news for you. That is most of us. We celebrate the victories because they are hard fought and we can all use them for motivation, but it is important to remember that the real struggle is happening elsewhere. It's maintaining a workout regimen when stress from work is threatening to consume us. It's choosing to connect with the community for a positive outlet rather than heading out for happy hour. It is in the consistency of putting together a string of decisions that support a healthy lifestyle. The vast majority of us are on this journey to improve our own lives and the lives of our family, friends, and community. And while those may not make great Instagram posts, they are absolutely worth the work.
Don't forget that the Catacombs Games begin THIS FRIDAY. It is not too late to get on a team. Email Dustin and he will get you set up. We will have regular classes all day on Friday with the CrossFit Open workout being the Workout of the Day if you don't want to do the workout Friday night. We will run heats beginning at 5 PM and you will be able to sign up for a heat through ZenPlanner after the Open workout is announced on Thursday night. You can also just show up on Friday night and we can get you into a heat. It's going to be a fun night of community and we hope you all join us.
