Heads up procrastinators! Barbell U kicks off this week. You are in luck as there are still a few spots left. Get ready to spend 12 weeks of focused practice perfecting your barbell technique and improving your strength. Coach Joon has been working on a curriculum and lifting progressions to improve your proficiency and performance with the barbell.

But Coach, I thought Catacombs focused on using our fitness outdoors and in real life? Why are we launching Barbell U?

Barbell movements are HIGHLY functional and translate directly to fitness for life and outdoor sport. 

  • Learn proper ways to brace and move heavy loads
  • Practice solid mechanics and separate complex movements into their parts
  • Get coaching and correction on your individual faults and weak areas
  • Improve range of motion and mobility
  • Increase strength and confidence with heavier loads
  • Directly transfer improved power output and explosiveness to outdoor pursuits.

This class was designed for those who:

  • Are new to CrossFit or weightlifting and want to improve your confidence and proficiency;
  • Aspire to compete in powerlifting, olympic lifting, or CrossFit or you just like to lift weights;
  • Have a desire to improve explosiveness or power output for sport or for life;
  • Are looking for a new challenge within the gym.

Barbell U will run from 6-7:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 17th to December 12th (no classes Thanksgiving week). Attendance at all sessions is not required, but later sessions will build on concepts from previous classes. Cost for the program is $300 for current Catacombs members and $350 for all others. This program is limited to 12 participants.
