Yesterday, I had the honor of delivering a check for over $500 to Durango’s Sexual Assault Services Organization (SASO). As I climbed the stairs to their office and walked down the hallway, I couldn’t help but imagine how different it must feel for those making their way to SASO in need of their support and assistance. It was such a privilege to be able to support their work and mission and I’m grateful that I could personally deliver the check.
I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you to all of you who came out to participate in our Snowdown Rowing Regatta and contribute to this great cause. Shout outs are also in order to the coaching staff for volunteering their time to run and organize the event and a gigantic thank you to Graeme and Joon for planning, organizing, and testing the equipment and setup of the whole event. Thanks also to the sponsors who donated prizes for the event:
We could not do it without you!
Giving back to our local community is central to our mission at Catacombs. We exist to help people change their lives through fitness and community. Expanding our reach outside of our walls is good for us as individuals and allows us to scratch the itch of serving others. In the past, we have done this through donating services, gift certificates, and financial contributions as well as volunteering our time to organizations like Trails 2000. This year, as an organization, we have a goal of completing a service project every quarter to support the greater Durango community.
And here is where we need your help! We are taking nominations for service projects. Ideal projects are those where a good amount of manpower (strong, motivated, big-hearted CrossFitters) can make a difference. But if it is important to you, we will consider it We want to lend our energy to the causes that matter to our members. Preference will be given to local nonprofits with a mission of serving this community. Email joon@crossfitcatacombs.com with your nominations and give us as much information as possible to help us select the most impactful projects.
Thanks for being a part of Catacombs and for being the kind of people that seek to improve the world in which we live.
