January Nutrition with a Twist

I know you are all still thick in the holiday revelry, but we are already thinking about how to get everyone back on track in January. The Whole Life Challenge (WLC) is our favorite way to do this for all of the reasons outlined below. Catacombs recently lost a friend and family member of our gym community. Bill joined Catacombs back when we were in our old space and had been a member here for 4 years. Getting Started at Catacombs in the New Year

The questions and inquiries are starting to roll in around how to get started at Catacombs in the new year. We are a small gym and we pride ourselves on personal connections with each athlete and the cohesiveness of our community. It is one of the things that makes Catacombs special so we closely manage our growth to preserve this culture. Additionally, it is important for us to be able to serve our existing members and provide the same quality coaching and engagement year round. Welcome Ricky!

I promise I will finish Part 2 of the Consistency post here real soon, but I need to interrupt that series for a quick announcement that Ricky is in house! Or, at least he will be on Monday. We are excited to announce that Ricky Frausto has joined our coaching staff and you will be seeing a lot of him starting in December. He will also be here this week helping to cover while Linda is on vacation. Don’t let the intensity scare you…there’s a warm smile buried under there.


Consistency Trumps All–Part 1

As we wrap up the Friday Night Lights series and move into the frenzied holiday stretch, I’d like to talk to you about a topic that I have been thinking a lot about lately. It’s the topic of consistency; specifically as it applies to exercise and nutrition. Increasingly over the years, I have come to believe that the type of workout you do or even the nutrition plan that you follow is less important than how consistently you do it. Whoa, now that’s controversial! Let me explain.


Benchmarks–What’s the point?

Many of you have noticed and a few of you have asked. What’s the deal with the benchmark workouts? Or, haven’t we done this workout before? Or, isn’t CrossFit supposed to be a different workout everyday? Well, you are right on all counts. Today I’d like to take a few minutes to explain how we decide what workouts get repeated, when we repeat them, and why it is important to have benchmarks.
