Last week we welcomed Joon to the coaching staff at Catacombs. Joon has CF-Level 2 training credentials and extensive CrossFit coaching experience as well as knowledge of USA Weightlifting and OPEX training systems. Not sure what that means? It doesn’t matter. He make us a better team through the diversity of his training and experience. Read on to learn more about him or better yet, just introduce yourself. I’m a 25 year old South Korean born but New Jersey raised fitness enthusiast. I’ve played sports all my life and have a particular love for football and track and field. I’ve been a CrossFitter for about 7 years now and a professional coach for 4 years. Coaching is my passion and I believe the connections we make with athletes can be powerful catalysts for change. My day is made when I can help someone make a new connection with a movement or get that first pull up. More importantly though, I love the feeling of knowing that someone is leaving the gym feeling better than when they came in and that their load feels a little lighter. That’s what it is really all about for me.
My favorite movements include overhead squats, burpees, and rope climbs. I absolutely hate the assault bike and long rowing sessions but am a huge proponent of “if you hate something, do it more often”.
I moved to Durango because I love the mountains and I’m excited to see more of the world than New Jersey. You guys might not know it but the team and operations at Catacombs are second to none. I jumped at the opportunity to level up as a coach by working with such an amazing team.
Thanks for welcoming me with open arms and I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you.
Oh, and fun fact…you will be my bestie if you can drop obscure quotes from “The Office”.
