We are off to a busy start in 2017! Here is an update on everything coming up in the next couple of weeks. From the Whole Life Challenge Info Session to the return of Mobility Hour and the Gymnastics Series, read on to get the scoop. The Whole Life Challenge kicks off on Saturday, January 21st. If you have not heard me gush over how valuable I believe this challenge to be, you have not been to class in the last couple of weeks. It is a fantastic way to hit the reset button on nutrition and stress management. One of the things that I like the most about the WLC is the camaraderie that is built between participants through the daily reflections. Many of you have already signed up and I am so stoked to have you along. If you still have questions or need a little encouragement to jump in, we will have an information session on Wednesday evening at 5 PM. This is largely Q&A style, so if you are all dialed in, you can skip it. If you can’t make Wednesday but still have questions, ask any of the coaches or shoot me an email. Mobility Hour is Back!
These sessions have been very popular in the past and we all could benefit from some focused attention on restoring joint range of motion and muscle health. Spend an hour with us focusing on your weak spots with coached mobility. Just like the Workout of the Day, our coaches will lead you through a warm up then coach you through a mobility session designed to help recovery and improve range of motion in troubled spots. Mobility Hour will be held on Sundays at 9:30 following the 8:30 class. A 10-session Mobility Punch Card can be purchased for $80 or a single sessions can be purchased for $10. These sessions are not included in regular CrossFit memberships.
Are handstands, handstand push ups, rope climbs, or pistols on your CrossFit Bucket List? Ready to strengthen your core and improve technique on some high skill movements? We are going to kick off a series of clinics designed to address some of the high skill movements that we can’t always dig into in class. For our first session, we are going to tackle stabilizing our core, stronger handstand pushups, rope climbs and beginning steps to handstand walking. Join us on Saturday, January 21st, from 11am to 12:30pm for our first Gymnastics Clinic. This clinic will be geared to all skill levels. We will break into groups based on where you are with these movements and to allow us to better address individual needs. The cost for the clinic is $40 for Catacombs members or $50 for non-members. Skate Ski Clinic #2
By popular demand, there will be a second clinic offered. Another chance to get outside, celebrate winter, make friends and learn to skate ski! The Durango Nordic Center is offering a skate ski clinic for members of Catacombs Fitness and the Durango Running Club on January 28th at 1:00PM. Cost is $20 per person. Don’t have skis? Rentals are available at the Durango Nordic Center. All abilities welcome. Class size limited to the first 8 people. Email Helen Low at [email protected] to reserve your spot!
