There is no denying that it is full-on summer time. Without a doubt, it is my favorite time of the year. It is also the time when many of us are taking vacations, river trips, riding bikes or hiking more, and sleeping out under the stars. While not amazing for our CrossFit attendance, these things do wonders for our soul. Please don’t apologize for skipping class to go on a bike ride or a backpacking trip. We understand and whole-heartedly encourage and applaud those efforts.
But if you are like me (and many of you are every bit as compulsive as I am), you start to fret that your lifting numbers will go down or your workout routine will grind to a halt. RELAX! It will do you a world of good to use your fitness outside and recharge your batteries outside of our walls. When you do come back, avoid the desire to punish all your vacation sins by going heavier, harder, and longer on Day 1. In fact, do the opposite. Go half speed on Day 1 to allow you to come back for Day 2 and 3. Your deadlift will wait for you.
Speaking of vacation, Dustin and I are on vacation July 4-9 (no, not together). A big thank you to John, Karen, Darcy, Taylor, Amanda and Greg for covering classes. Please note there will be no classes on July 4th…get outside instead. There is also no T-Up! next week. If you need help with other issues, I will be available via limited email. See you July 11!
