I hope by now you have found your way to a solid start to 2015. Many of you are starting the year out with aspirations and goals around your fitness and performance. We applaud that and want to do everything in our power to help you meet and exceed the goals. Yes, the energy of the New Year and the freshness of your goals will wane, but your coaches and your community will remain steadfast in keeping you on the course.
As an added weapon in your fitness arsenal, we are proud to announce that we are now offering Progenex post-workout recovery formulas, pre-workout formulas, and Omega 3 Fish Oil. We chose Progenex because they are the cleanest line of supplements on the market using the highest quality protein sources; minimizing fillers, soy, sugars, and artificial ingredients; and formulating the product to be easily and maximally absorbed. There are much less expensive products out there, but there is nothing that compares to the quality of Progenex.
Who should use it and what’s right for me?
First off, let me start by saying that our stance on eating real food has not changed. Eat meat, vegetables, nuts, seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. This is our best prescription for nutritional bliss. But most of us struggle with some aspect of this. Maybe it is hard for you to get your necessary protein intake from eating protein alone. Or maybe you find yourself starving at 3 PM even after eating a sizable lunch and all your best intentions go out the window. Some of you have increased your workout frequency to try to meet some fitness or performance goals but you find yourself lacking “the punch” to bring the intensity we ask for everyday. In all of these scenarios, a protein recovery shake might help you stay true to your fitness and nutrition prescription.
The Progenex Recovery post workout formula is designed to help your muscles rebuild and recover so that you can hit it hard again overcoming fatigue and restoring performance. It is absorbed quickly in the post workout period when your muscles are most able to rebuild muscle glycogen. On the hunger side, protein is a slower burner than carbohydrates so feeding those starving muscles with a protein source allows you to stave off the corn chip or sugar cravings that seem to intensify when you up your workout volume. And finally, a post workout protein shake can do more to improve body composition and lean out than purely dieting. Lean muscle burns fat and post workout protein builds lean muscle. Makes sense, right?
In addition to Progenex Recovery, you will also see Progenex More Muscle. For those interested in supporting additional muscle growth, Progenex More Muscle is similar to Progenex Recovery but contains “more” of everything needed to build muscle. Unlike Recovery which is taken post-workout and intended to support recovery needs, More Muscle is recommended to be taken first thing in the morning and / or as a meal replacement or supplement. This may not be for everybody, but for those with the objective of gaining mass, Progenex offers a quality product.
On the fish oil front, you will see Progenex Omega +. You will be hard pressed to find any credible sources refuting the need to increase your intake of Omega 3 Fatty Acids. We have no problem recommending fish oil to everyone we know. The well-documented benefits of fish oil include reducing inflammation and soreness along with its antioxidant properties. Progenex Omega + contains krill oil (the most bioavailable form of Omega 3s), calamari oil (rich in DHA), and Vitamin D3. Again, you can find less expensive fish oil, but you get what you pay for. Quality does matter.
